What is a smartphone? It is a phone that offers advanced capabilities beyond a typical mobile phone, often with PC-like functionality. There is no set standard definition of a smartphone. Many define a smartphone by the way they use it. The smartphone runs a complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers.

Generally speaking what is a smartphone is simply a phone with advanced features like e-mail and Internet capabilities, and/or a full keyboard. In other words all smartphones are miniature computers that have phone capability.

Smartphones come with a variety of features, including email, Internet browing, GPS, camera and video capability, organizers, calendars, full operating systems, full keyboards, oh and of course the cell phone.
