Type Of Language Used In Mobile Phone World

If you are thinking of buying a mobile phone you may be a bit confused by some of the terminology. The fact that mobile phones seem to be increasing in sophistication means that the language associated with them also seems to be increasing in complexity. Here are just some of the most common mobile phone terms you are likely to hear.

- GSM stands for Global Systems for Mobile Communications. This is the most popular system for handling mobile phone communications with over 43 billion people users.

- 1G, 2G, 3G, & 4G mobile phones. What is meant by the G with all these mobile phones is generation. We are using 4G phones now as in 4th generation phones but the original cellular phones which were out were first generation (1G). At the moment there is a lot of talk about fifth generation phones. These newer phones can handle much more data than their predeccessors.

- SIM Card. The word SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module and this is where all the information about the subscriber's identity is stored. Each SIM card will contain a unique identity number as well as their passwords. Unless you have a SIM card for the phone, you will not be able to use it properly.

- Bluetooth. Most phones come with an open wireless network known as Bluetooth and this lets them pass information to and from each other's phone over a specific distance. Bluetooth is very handy as you can pass things such as music and photos between phones.

- SMS is Short Messaging Services. When talking about SMS we are referring to how two phones can communicate with each other.

- MMS is short for Multimedia Messaging Service and this enables people to send things such as audio, video, photos or ringtones from one phone to another one.

- GPS is Global Positional Services and this is now common in most mobile phones. The reason for having this function is to ensure that our location can be found by using the mobile phone.

SD Cards are used in many products today. 32gb Ultra SD cards happen to be a great example of this. Another one that is used nowadays is the R4i.
