Introducing The HTC Desire

The attractive looking HTC Desire is, in terms of its appearance, almost identical to the previously released Google Nexus One. It measures in at 119 x 60 x 11.9mm and weighs 135g. The handset packs in a vast array of features despite its small size, and is definitely up amongst the best smartphones on the market right now. The HTC Desire is a bit on the larger side, due to the very impressive 3.7 AMOLED screen, yet still has the nice curvy shape of the Nexus One. The better optical and more responsive replacement of the trackball found underneath the screen of the Nexus One makes the HTC Desire, in fact, more desirable than the Nexus One. The HTC Desire comes with a high quality 5 mega pixel camera built into it, which is supported by auto focus and an LED flash. The new flash function means that pictures taken in low lighting conditions still look great. The camera can capture video footage at a resolution of 800 x 400, and id perfect for making videos on the move. The built in memory (512 MB) is not, unfortunately, able to hold a great deal of data, however, there is a micro SD card slot which allows you to expand the memory to 16 GB. The addition of a very powerful 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor has made the HTC Desire very user friendly. The biggest appeal, though, of HTCs new product, is its handset that incorporates a Sense user interface with an Android 2.1 OS. The neat and sharp display of the HTC Desire offers some of the best navigation between menus of all handsets currently available on the market. The Sense system features, amongst other things, a calendar widget which shows the user their full schedule rather than just a view of the current month. This is a great feature for business users especially. Scrolling your finger across the bottom of the screen whilst using an application opens up extra elements of that app, which makes for great usability. This principle is also incorporated into the messaging, contacts and music screens. You can even change music tracks, due to improvement in the media player facility, by dragging your finger across the bottom of the Desire. A very deep and natural black color and a good responsiveness are features of the 3.7 screen which does a great job with movie playback. The HTC Desire will undoubtedly be one of the best smartphones to come onto the market in 2010. With its terrific looks, fast performance, and its wide array of features, it is going to be a hard act to follow.
