An unlocked iPhone is one that is fully unlocked and usable anywhere in the world. While the iPhone is designed to be used with the AT&T service only, with an unlocked and activated iPhone any SIM chip from any GSM network can be placed into the phone and used with any mobile service provider. Use of the iPod feature and activation without iTunes can now be done by a variety of software tools for both Windows and Mac computers.
